You. Me. Your neighbor. Your neighbor’s dog...we all want to lose weight in 2017.  However, did you know that that a lack of sleep is hindering your ability to lose that weight?

 

In a recent study from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers found that those who maintain regular and healthy sleep schedules burned 5% more calories while sleeping and 20% more calories after a meal compared to those who did not sleep enough.

Sleep More.  That is probably a New Years Resolution you’ve never made, but you need to.  Sleep plays a vital role in mental, emotional and physical health. Unfortunately,  50% of people between get less than 6 hours of sleep a night.

 

Perhaps you’re the type though that gets that pesky second wind at night and just can’t fall asleep.  We recommend you try a power nap!

 

A power nap can counteract the effects of little sleep. In fact, “a study at NASA on sleepy military pilots and astronauts found that a 40-minute nap improved performance by 34% and alertness 100%." (National Sleep Foundation).  Whether you’re traveling on a plane or train, or just in the 9-5p grind every day, schedule in some time for a nap.
